As little kids we love birthdays and look forward to each and every one with delight. We like the idea of getting older and even tell our age in half years. Can that old adage be true that youth is wasted on the young? We are in such a hurry to grow up and before we know it, those days reside in the past. Then we reach a point in life where we want time to slow down, those birthdays to come along at a slower pace especially as that number gets bigger. Do we ever feel our age? I don’t think my 88-year-old uncle feels his age. Maybe his knees do on certain days but overall I bet he feels like he’s 35 or 40. See the thing is that even as we get older, who says we have to act our age. My mother used to say “we cannot help getting older but we do not have to get old.” What she meant by that was in who we are, how we behave and what we believe.
