FLORAL PLAQUE COOKIES/ Finished!

I am a bit behind schedule and trying to catch up. October is flying by and pumpkin cookies have yet to post on the blog. Things were slow on the blog this past summer and in August it was nearly three weeks in between posts. So what have I been up to? Any guesses? Basking on a beach in the Caribbean? Touring wine country in the south of France? Hiking the Appalachian Trail? Riding every roller coaster from coast to coast? If you know me, those last two items are not on my bucket list. My summer was not spent doing any of those exciting things. Instead, I was bent over my computer. Yup, I was determined to complete a years-long genealogy project. I’m now in physical therapy for a huge knot in my shoulder… no kidding.

As mentioned in a previous post, for several years I have researched my family history being sure to include not only my direct line of ancestors but their siblings too. I did not stop at my ancestors and also researched the families of my aunts and uncles who married into the family. After completing my research, my goal was to create a Genealogy Family Report to distribute to family members. In the end it came to 450-plus pages. To avoid the tedium of reading pages upon pages of written text, the report contains documents, transcriptions, photos and brief descriptions for an easy read. For me the best part is that my ancestors are no longer forgotten. I come from good, strong people who endured hardship and it makes me appreciate the good times we live in, and the wonders of modern medicine. It is finally finished … Alleluia! For now, it’s goodbye to my ancestors who I have gotten to know very well. See you on the other side!

Stay tuned as the plan is to get back to a more regular schedule of publishing sweet posts. Thanks for your patience.

RIBBON STENCIL COOKIES/ Ladies!

This is the time of year when we shine the limelight on womens breast health with vivid pink everything. I remind my readers every October to think of themselves. You are wives, mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters. Let’s face it … we make the world revolve in an orderly fashion. Your life is hectic juggling work, home, children, laundry, housekeeping, cooking and all those other tasks to give your loved ones a wonderful life, but please do not neglect your own health in October or any time of the year. It is easy to put yourself last while doing for others. Take an extra three minutes in the shower every month and make that annual 15-minute appointment. Early detection saved two cousins who today are healthy and busy enjoying life and being grandmothers.

I’ve been waiting nearly a year to use this sweet ribbon stencil. It was a complimentary gift when I ordered stencils from The Cookie Countess
