EASTER EGG COOKIES/ Learning Curve

When I tried out hiking years ago, I knew after twenty minutes that communing with nature was not my thing. When I took up skiing I enjoyed the sport but there was a steep learning curve. Airbrushing cookies falls into the skiing category but on a much smaller scale. This decorating technique is fun but requires more practice than I anticipated.

In my first attempt at airbrushing cookies I used Wilton Color Mist which was easy; just spray. Then I tried the airbrush kit, which requires some finesse. It has three settings from low to high and a range on the trigger which controls the intensity of the color sprayed onto the cookie. I’m still trying to find the sweet spot to achieve the desired result. I also admit to being a messy airbrusher. Airbrushing with stencils requires washing off the stencil every so often and it’s messy. I somehow manage to get food coloring all over my hands and dish towels. It may be time to pull out the rubber gloves!

These Easter Egg cookies are my most recent airbrushing project. Mixing and matching colors seems simple but is not one of my strengths. In college, maybe I should have swapped out one of my politics courses for an art course. These cookies were airbrushed with both regular airbrush colors and sheen airbrush colors. I experimented with color intensity and color combinations. The cookies were first iced in light green and lavender. I airbrushed with similar colors using light and dark shades of greens and purples, and then contrasting colors mixing pink with green and blue with green. I prefer the cookies in similar color schemes. Which do you prefer?

RAINBOW CUPCAKE COOKIES/ Three!

These Rainbow Cupcake Cookies were made for my grand nephew’s birthday party at nursery school. Wearing his green T-shirt which read T H R E E and hearing his nursery school mates sing Happy Birthday made for an exciting day. So in this post what better topic for today than those ‘moving balls of energy,’ a description by his MumMum of her three-year-old grandson. At age three the 'terrible twos' are in the rear-view mirror with more to learn and more to do. Toddlers … they are just the cutest!

Today’s post was a group effort. My two nieces each have three-year-old boys and I thought who best to describe toddlers at age three than their Moms. It took only seconds to compile this list.

CURIOUS … INQUISITIVE … FUNNY … THOUGHTFUL …
… LITERAL … ENERGETIC … CHEERFUL … INNOCENT …
… JOYFUL … IMAGINATIVE … CREATIVE … LIVELY …
… TALKATIVE … SWEET … LOVING

Oh, Thank Heaven for little Boys …

WEDDING CAKE COOKIES/ Divine Damask

Love is like magic, and it always will be,
For love still remains life's sweet mystery.
Love works in ways that are wondrous and strange,
And there's nothing in life that love cannot change.
Love can transform the most commonplace
Into beauty and splendor and sweetness and grace.
Love is unselfish, understanding and kind,
For it sees with its heart, and not with its mind.
Love is the answer that everyone seeks;
Love is the language that every heart speaks.
Love cannot be bought, it is priceless and free.
Love, like pure magic, is life's sweet mystery.
