TWIX COOKIE BARS/ Say Twix

You are going to flip over these Twix Cookie Bars. Instead of a decorated cookie, I have for you today a cookie bar. All it takes is 10 minutes . . . no kidding! The bottom layer is like the cookie crust of a Twix Bar with the toffee of a Heath Bar and thick chocolate topping . . . what's not to like! This recipe is so easy and perfect for this week's game, your undergrad cramming for exams or your holiday party.

1 Cup Butter (2 sticks), softened
1 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Cups Flour
1 Egg Yoke
1 Tsp Vanilla
6-8 Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars (or 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips)
1 Cup Ground Pecans (optional)

In a pan over low heat, melt Butter.
Remove from heat and add Brown Sugar, Egg Yoke and Vanilla.

In a separate bowl, add the flour. Add brown sugar mixture to flour. Mix well with wire whisk.

Spread onto ungreased 9x13 sheet pan (for thicker bottom layer use square brownie pan)
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

Immediately place Hershey bars atop the crust.

Let melt and spread evenly. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Let cool completely and cut into squares.

Makes16-20 cookie bars.

  1. I checked out your recipe (over at Best Blog recipes) and you are right, these couldn't be easier to make. Great treat when in a hurry, in fact so quick to make it would be hard not to make a few batches at a time. I'm sure they'd disappear in a flash!

    1. Thank you. There's less guilt eating these than the Twix candy bar. After all, I had to taste test a few! I too like the flowers in the mason jar from my niece & nephew.

  5. I love Twix, but sometimes they are too small. Now I can use your recipes to make a larger size and suit my cravings :)

    1. Felice, Yes, you get a lot more twix in this cookie bar. If serving a crowd, you can easily cut small squares too. Happy Holidays!
