HEART COOKIES/ Swirly Heart

 

This post is the third and final in a series of Valentine-themed cookies. Like the dotty hearts these swirly hearts were done with the wet-on-wet technique. This design is just as amazing and very easy and fun to do. Instead of dots, let’s create some swirls with our secret tool ... the toothpick.

Heart Shortbread Cookies
Royal Icing for outlining and flooding tinted Medium Pink with AmeriColor Super Red
Royal Icing for flooding tinted Light Pink and Deep Pink with AmeriColor Super Red
Disposable piping bags & couplers
Squeeze bottles
Toothpicks
Wilton Decorating Tip #2
Hint: AmeriColor Super Red creates various shades of pink. Pinks & Reds dry darker.


Outline cookie with #2 tip in medium pink icing.

Flood cookie in medium pink icing.

Pipe alternating stripes of light pink, deep pink and medium pink flood icing.

Drag toothpick through stripes to create zig-zag design.

Let dry overnight.
